Fruit
Let your fruit fully ripen outside of the fridge. This allows their sugars to develop completely ie. the fruit becomes sweeter, juicier and more fragrant. Once fully ripe, fruit should then be stored in the fridge especially in the summer and even in the winter.
Vegetables
All vegetables should be kept refridgerated at all times. You may have noticed that organic potatoes and onions sprout really quickly if left out of the fridge. Most people leave these things out of the fridge which is fine when buying them conventionally farmed as they are sprayed with a retardant to prevent them from sprouting in conventional farming. Certified organic potatos and onions are thankfully not sprayed with these chemicals and therefore remain "alive" and therefore do what nature intends - try to reproduce by sprouting. So please keep even your organic potatoes and onions in the fridge as well.
Leafy greens
Leafy greens should be re-hydrated (particularly in the summer) when you bring them home and then dried off and refridgerated. When it's really hot we often do this for you as we pack them but it doesn't hurt to do it again.
Tupperware FridgeSmart range
We personally have our fridge full of the Tupperware FridgeSmart containers and store all of our produce in these. These containers have vents that can be opened or closed depending on whether the produce that you are storing in them at the time are light, medium or heavy breathers. If different items of produce are of the same catergory of breathers (light, medium or heavy) they are also able to share a container. The containers also have a grid at the bottom to collect moisture and keep it away from your produce which ensures that your produce keeps much longer in these them.
